SUSE today announced, as part of its ongoing alliance with SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), the release of SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SAP® Applications.  Built using the recently updatedSUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP2 platform, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications increases the performance of compute and memory-intensive workloads, including those involving the SAP HANA® platform. The operating platform optimized for running SAP solutions also supports the latest hypervisors, helping customers move physical workloads to virtual and cloud environments more quickly and easily.

Major enhancements include:

• Updated Linux kernel 3.0 from SUSE allows customers to run SAP applications on the latest hardware platforms to improve reliability, scalability and  performance of compute and memory intensive workloads
• Support for the latest hypervisor technologies, such as Xen and KVM, simplifies the migration of native workloads to virtual and cloud environments
• Enhancements  to the installation wizard eases configuration and set up of latest versions of the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform and Sybase solutions from SAP
• New antivirus tool-kit integration improves cross-platform threat detection
