Stockholm, Sweden –
April 25, 2013. Specops Software announced today the release of Specops Deploy 4.8 that supports the seamless management of Forefront Endpoint Protection in a
desktop management solution. Specops Deploy 4.8 also supports App-V 5.0 for deployment
of virtual applications.
Specops Deploy 4.8 is
an Active Directory integrated deployment system that fully automates the
process of installing operating systems and applications in Windows
environments. The system runs within the existing infrastructure and is capable
of quickly installing or reinstalling Windows and business-critical
applications whenever needed.
”We listened to our
customers when developing Specops Deploy 4.8 and focused on solving a tricky
problem we often hear about,” says Thorbjörn Sjövold, CTO of Specops Software.
”Many small and medium-sized companies say that they want to keep using
Forefront Endpoint Protection but can’t afford to implement and maintain a
complex solution like SCCM. By integrating the FEP management in Active
Directory and Group Policy we put the power back into the hands of the IT pro.”
Specops Deploy 4.8 also
upgrades the App-V support from version 4.6 to 5.0 which is the latest version
from Microsoft.
A key component of
Specops Deploy is a self-service portal which makes it possible to find the
right balance between user-driven and centralized application and service
management. The self-service portal allows users to request applications and
services as needed, and includes an approval workflow where managers can
approve or reject requests from their own users.
”With its unbeatable
total cost of ownership Specops Deploy has repeatedly proven that it is the
best deployment solution on the market for small and medium-sized businesses,” Sjövold
says.
