Melt Software AB (previously Omnicloud AB) today announced that it’s open-source web development framework NanoMVC has been renamed to Melt.
Melt is a web application framework written in PHP. It is designed to rapidly build web applications that both scale very well and remain simple even as requirements change and product specifications pivot.
How is Melt different?
- Every feature in Melt stems from real-world projects and actual requirements in product development. Nothing has been added for the sake of it.
- Melt performs well in both small and big projects and is perfect for lean startup projects with many pivots. By aggressively avoiding code duplication the complexity is kept to a minimum even as your application grows.
- Melt uses a web-based unix-like console as an interface between the programmer and the framework. This allows programmers on all levels to to quickly interact with the framework for rapid prototyping, simple maintenance and access to other development widgets.
- Melt lets you keep your model declarations in the application where they belong. A powerful database abstraction layer provides simple commands to synchronize the database, increase SQL performance and maintain data integrity.
- Melt lets the developer know what is going on behind the scenes. Unlike many other frameworks, core features are not hidden behind functions with obscure names. You don’t need a manual every time you use Melt!
- JQuery and LESS CSS are bundled to further speed up development.
