Världens bästa spelare på plats 
DreamHack har bjudit in 8 av de absolut bästa och största stjärnorna från StarCraft II-världen till Stockholm Invitational, bland annat är de sydkoreanska spelarna Lim ”SlayerS BoxeR” Yo-Hwan som i sitt hemland och hos hundratusentals esportfans världen runt betraktas som den absolut största. Boxer får sällskap av landsmannen Jang "MC" Min Chul som med sina två vinster i ligan GSL just nu räknas som världens bästa protoss-spelare.

Sverige representeras av proffsspelarna Jonathan "Jinro" Walsh och Stefan "MorroW” Andersson som båda har bra chanser att gå långt i turneringen. Övriga spelare tillhör världseliten och kommer från USA, Kanada, Ukraina och Tyskland.

Esport till den breda publiken
DreamHack har under många år stöttat esportens utveckling i Sverige och världen med mängder av tävlingar på de stora festivalerna i Jönköping. Stockholm Invitational är startskottet på hela 5 stora tävlingar under 2011 i Sverige och Europa som totalt kommer att premiera vinnarna med 810 000 SEK. Årets finaler arrangeras på DreamHack Winter 2011 i november och säsongen förväntas följas av miljonpublik. 

– Esporten har tagit klivet från att vara en marginell ungdomskultur till att vara en publiksport precis som traditionell sport där utövarna är förebilder och idoler. Att Aftonbladet visar matcherna direkt är ett kvitto på att det finns ett enormt sug efter esport i Sverige just nu, säger Tomas Hermansson, Esportansvarig på DreamHack. 

– Spelaruppställningen i Stockholm kan inte bli bättre och att ha världsstjärnor som Boxer, MC och Jinro på plats är en milstolpe för DreamHack. Detta bekräftar Sveriges ställning som en av de ledande esportländerna, säger Hermansson.

Direktsändningen på Aftonbladet av DreamHack Stockholm Invitational startar 14.00 på tisdag 12:e april och kommer utöver matcherna som kommenteras på engelska även innehålla analyser och intervjuer med spelare på svenska.

Aftonbladet broadcast live from StarCraft tournament at Kulturhuset in Stockholm

The StarCraft tournament DreamHack SAPPHIRE AMD Championship: Stockholm Invitational is held at Kulturhuset in Stockholm on April 12th. The tickets sold out in only 3 days. The best players in the world
DreamHack has invited 8 of the best and biggest stars from the StarCraft II world to Stockholm Invitational, for instance the South Korean players Lim ”SlayerS BoxeR” Yo-Hwan, who in his country and among hundreds of thousands of eSport fans the world over, is considered as the greatest of all time. Boxer is accompanied by his fellow South Korean Jang "MC" Min Chul, who with his two wins in the GSL league is considered as the best protoss player in the world right now.

Sweden is represented by the pro players Jonathan "Jinro" Walsh and Stefan "MorroW” Andersson, both of whom have excellent chances to advance far in the tournament. The other players are all from the world’s elite players and come from USA, Canada, Ukraine and Germany.

Bringing eSports to the broader public
DreamHack have for many years supported the evolution of eSports in Sweden and the world with the large number of tournaments held at the main festivals in Jönköping, Sweden. Stockholm Invitational is start of 2011 5 major tournaments in Sweden and Europe with a prize purse of SEK 810 000. The Grand Finals are held at DreamHack Winter 2011 in November and the season is expected to be followed by an audience numbered in the millions.

– eSports has gone from being a marginal youth culture to become a spectator sport just as traditional sports, where the practitioners are role models and idols.
