Uppsala, March 1, 2011 – According to the ”e-barometern” from Swedish Mail Ltd and HUI the Swedish Retail Institute, domestic online shopping totaled 25 billion SEK during 2010, which represents a 13% growth over 2009. The largest increase was during the last quarter when sales increased by 16% which was also the highest growth since the global financial crisis. Close to 50% of all Swedish people have now shopped online.
The convenience of online shopping cannot be beaten, as a customer you are never constrained to limited and rigid office hours, choice of suppliers is more or less indefinite, wide supply of product- and price reviews are always and easily available. In combination with a general increase of the online maturity of consumers we expect the online shopping to take a larger share of the total retail shopping. During the next 5 years, online shopping is forecasted to grow 4 times faster compared to traditional shopping.
For any Web business the consumer experience while browsing a net merchant´s homepage is extremely important. From research and e-commerce businesses we know that online purchases often are not completed or abandoned for various reasons. A common cause is when the shopper does not have his wallet with credit cards easily available or the bank security token where it should be. But with the mobile, it is a different story – it is always there!
When choosing Payair as payment alternative a reference code is visible on the screen, the same code is entered in to your mobile, followed by your personal pin code and finally you select the bank card from which the amount will be charged. You do not need to find your wallet or your bank security token nor do you have to interpret difficult to read account numbers, cvn code and expiration dates
For the Web shop using QR-codes the payment process is even easier. When you have identified the product you want to purchase you just scan the QR-code with your mobile, enter your pin code and select bank card. Simultaneously customer details such as delivery address, is sent to the shipping department of the Web shop.
”The first e-trade sale as we know it today is considered to have been made by Pizza Hut in the early 90´s and it is probably the same story with online shopping as with all major paradigm shifts. The short term effects are often over rated but the long term effects are always under estimated. I am totally convinced that all the convenience and added value which online shopping offers me as a consumer will have bigger impact and result in higher growth rates than current forecasts and models predicts” -says Sören Babra, CEO and founder of Payair.
”We have had initial discussions with e-commerce businesses in various industries, so far we have not met any who have not appreciated the possibility to streamline the shopping experience, making it faster and easier and ultimately improving your conversion rate. Therefore we are very optimistic about the potential of our internet payment solution which we are now starting to deliver” – concludes Sören Babra
