Omnicloud, the Swedish provider of on-demand software, has successfully developed and installed an on-premise software solution for the Swiss-based company Oerlikon Solar.

Oerlikon Solar is a world leading manufacturer of fully automated end-to-end production lines for manufacturing thin-film silicon solar modules.

The software, dubbed Plant Manager, allows Oerlikon to assemble their complete production lines through a web-based interface and attach consumptions and material flows to production equipment to receive outputs of the so-called Mass & Energy Balance for the complete plant.

Outputs are used to calculate the annual running costs of the plant and to analyze the value of R&D efforts. Plant Manager is complement to existing CAD technology and uses input from Intergraph SmartPlant® 3D CAD software to set equipment parameters. The software is a part of Oerlikon’s investment in software innovation giving the company cost savings and a competitive edge.
